About Laurenz Ben Marsau
Laurenz Ben Marsau is a Hamburg-based visual artist whose work moves between photography, mixed media, and film. His art explores the tension between emotion and form, often combining paint, text, and resin on photographic surfaces to create layered reflections on memory, vulnerability, and human connection.
Before dedicating himself to fine art, Marsau built a career as a fashion film director and cinematographer, working internationally with luxury brands and well-known personalities. His background in visual storytelling continues to shape the cinematic quality of his artworks. Each piece balancing precision with emotional depth.
At just 26, he has already presented two solo exhibitions at Barlach Halle K in Hamburg.
His first, Notes to Myself (2024), marked the beginning of his artistic journey beyond commercial imagery, while his second, Feeling Blue (2025), introduced thirty new works and the first pieces of his evolving mirror series. Together, they form the foundation of a growing body of work that seeks to capture what cannot be said. Moments of stillness, longing, and quiet transformation.
